Job Description

The Payroll clerk is part of an enthusiastic and motivated team of Human Resource professionals.  This position is responsible for maintaining and updating employee payroll records, processing bi-weekly payroll, and verifying year end payroll and tax reports. 'On the job' training is provided. Cottonwood Financial is an Equal Opportunity Employer. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare, review and process bi-weekly payroll
  • Update various reports, files, software, etc with payroll and employee information
  • New hires, terminations, promotions, employee information changes, etc.
  • Prepare general ledger account reconciliations
  • Calculate monthly payroll accrual amounts
  • Ensure that payroll information is accurate
  • Prepare and enter journal entries
  • Work with outside vendors as required
  • Verify the accuracy of quarterly and year end payroll and tax reports
  • Other projects as assigned

  • $17.99 per hour

Job Requirements


  • High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent
  • 1+ year in general office, accounting and payroll environment
  • Solomon, Microsoft Dynamics SL, Ceridian experience preferred
  • Excellent PC skills, including: Excel, Word, and Windows
  • Must pass a credit and criminal background check
  • Local (Dallas/Fort Worth area) candidates only - no relocation
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.  We are not able to sponsor H1B visas or hire students on F-1 visas for practical training (e.g. OPT and CPT)
