Job Description

Reporting to the Head of Application Development, the Software Engineering Manager (aka Solutions Development Manager) will support project delivery teams within the fast-paced Application Development team. Here at Cottonwood Financial, we operate very quickly and time to market is imperative. This hands-on leadership position is responsible for managing teams that will be responsible for the development of our customer-facing websites, mobile apps, and direct customer communication applications. The Software Engineering Manager will manage a team of developers and oversee the enhancements and upgrades of the company’s customer experience applications. This position will gather and understand business requirements, provide technical design documentation, manage internal and vendor solutions, systems integration, unit, and regression testing and deployment. The Software Engineering Manager is ultimately responsible for ensuring that business requirements are met for all development projects. This position is based at our Administrative Office (HQ) in Irving (Las Colinas), Texas.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Utilize system functionality and develop processes to create an optimal customer experience
  • Build team member’s career growth and training plans including Team KPIs
  • Understand and promote recognized agile project management and documentation practices
  • Coordinate software architecture and delivery along with issue and defect resolution
  • Manage relationships with vendors
  • Manage the deliverables by setting priorities and driving the projects to completion
  • Manage and grow a high performing delivery team
  • Evangelize the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and drive from real experience with SDLC practices and procedures using Agile methodology
  • Partner with Enterprise Architects and make design decisions, including when tradeoffs must be made to meet business objectives
  • Manage a team unifying a vision for the best in class customer experience using Hybrid Cloud technologies
  • Partner with Marketing teams to implements a design that incorporates the vision and brand of a product, service, advertisement, or other graphical content

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent Military/other experience
  • At least 5 years experience in Software Engineering
  • At least 1 year experience with .Net, DevOps, Windows, Web Technologies, SQL, and Scriptwriting
  • Exceptional leadership capabilities
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Exceptional client relations skills
  • Ability to work well with people from many different disciplines with varying degrees of technical experience
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic, rapidly changing business and technical environment
  • Strong consulting and collaboration skills
  • Local (Dallas/Fort Worth area) candidates only – no relocation
  • Must be currently authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship and not require sponsorship in the future

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s Degree
  • 4+ years of experience in at least one of the following: .Net, JavaScript, or other web technologies such as React, Gatsby, or TypeScript
  • Experience building out CDN and CDI Azure pipelines
  • 5+ years of people management experience
  • 2+ years of Agile development methodology experience
  • Experience in a Financial Services organization

COMPENSATION

  • Annual salary of $132,000
